Carbon Footprint Calculation

The  global shift toward net-zero emissions has made carbon footprint  calculation a critical business requirement. Governments, investors, and  consumers now expect organizations to quantify and disclose their  greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Accurate carbon accounting not only  demonstrates environmental responsibility but also ensures compliance  with international frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, CDP,  and CBAM regulations.

At Greenex Environmental, we  simplify carbon footprint measurement with data-driven methods,  sector-specific expertise, and actionable strategies. Whether you are a  manufacturer, exporter, or service provider, our solutions empower you  to meet compliance obligations, strengthen sustainability communication,  and unlock long-term business value.

Life Cycle Inventory (LCI)

The LCI phase focuses on detailed data collection of inputs and outputs across the lifecycle, such as raw materials, energy use, emissions, water consumption, and waste.

Life Cycle Impact Assessment

In this step, the collected data is translated into measurable environmental impacts such as greenhouse gas emissions, resource depletion, acidification, eutrophication, and water scarcity.

Product Development

LCA supports eco-design principles by enabling R&D teams to create products that meet consumer demand for sustainable solutions.

Whether you are a  manufacturer, exporter, or service provider, our solutions empower you  to meet compliance obligations, strengthen sustainability communication,  and unlock long-term business value.

Why it Matters

  • Stay aligned with ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, CDP, BRSR, CBAM, and other frameworks.

  • Avoid penalties, greenwashing claims, and reputational damage.

  • Identify energy, fuel, and material inefficiencies that increase costs.

  • Provide stakeholders, investors, and customers with transparent and verified carbon data.

Carbon emissions are closely tied to business risks and opportunities. Measuring them provides clarity and credibility across supply chains.

The Four Phases of Lifecycle Assessment

goal(1).png

Goal & Scope Definition

The first step is to lay the groundwork for a precise study of your carbon footprint. Here, system boundaries are set to figure out which processes, facilities, or products will be looked at. The goals are set based on whether the calculation is for compliance, reporting, or internal strategy. To make sure that results can be compared and are consistent, the functional unit is also set, like per product, per service, or per site.

Data Collection & Inventory

At this point, all relevant activity data is collected to create a full emissions inventory. This includes direct and indirect energy use, fuel use, inputs of raw materials, logistics, and waste production in all operations. To reduce uncertainty, it is important to have high-quality and complete data. By carefully organising the inputs, businesses make a clear baseline that makes it possible to keep track of emissions over time.

Impact Assessment

After the data is collected, it is turned into measurable greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions using standard conversion factors that show the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2e) in the air. This step turns raw inventory into information about how it affects the environment by using internationally accepted methods like ISO 14064 or GHG Protocol. The result shows the total emissions and how they are spread out across different scopes, processes, or stages of the lifecycle. This makes it possible to come up with specific plans to cut them down.

Interpretation & Reporting

The last step looks at the results and makes sense of them so that they can help people make decisions. By finding places where carbon emissions are high, companies can focus on making their operations more efficient, using more renewable energy, or switching to different materials. Suggestions are made not only to meet compliance standards but also to help long-term plans for sustainability. Clear communication of results builds trust among stakeholders and opens up ways for ongoing improvement.

Standards and the Legal Situation

Calculating your carbon footprint must follow global rules like ISO 14064, the GHG Protocol, and CDP reporting frameworks, as well as regional rules like the EU ETS or India's PAT scheme. These rules make sure that GHG emissions are reported correctly for all scopes and stages of the life cycle.

Follow  the rules set by ISO 14064, the GHG Protocol, and the CDP. Greenex  helps companies cut down on carbon emissions by using strategies that  are good for the environment and ready for the future.

  • GHG Protocol – The world’s most widely used standard for GHG reporting.

  • ISO 14064 – Standard for quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) – Aligning with science-based climate goals.

  • CDP & ESG Frameworks – Supporting investor-grade disclosures.

CBAM Regulations – Essential for exporters to the EU market.

These standards ensure consistency, credibility, and global recognition of Carbo Fooprint results.

Everything You Need to Know

From technology to timelines, find all the key answers in one simple place.

  • Solar energy is electricity generated from sunlight using photovoltaic (PV) panels. These panels absorb sunlight and convert it into direct current (DC), which is then transformed into usable alternating current (AC) by an inverter to power your home or business.

  • Yes. While the upfront cost may vary, solar systems drastically reduce monthly electricity bills and often pay for themselves within 5–7 years. Many countries also offer incentives, tax credits, or feed-in tariffs to further enhance savings.

  • Most solar panels are designed to last 25 to 30 years. Even after that, they continue to produce electricity at around 80% of their original efficiency, making them a long-term investment.

  • Not necessarily. Batteries are optional and allow you to store excess energy for later use or during power outages. Without batteries, your system can still function by exporting excess power to the grid.
